Abundant Rain Collective, Inc. was founded in 2015 by homeschooling families in Elkhart, Indiana.  Our Executive Leadership Team is comprised of Jenni Hays, Alysia Kinney, and Michael Hays.  Several other families graciously volunteer their time and talents to make this a true “collective” where homeschooling families come together to build a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.  Read below to meet our team and learn a little more about us.

Jenni has been homeschooling since 2007.  She and her husband Michael have four sons.  Before staying home to raise her family, Jenni was a social worker for at-risk and foster children.  Her duties within Abundant Rain include (but are not limited to!):  organizing and overseeing classes, running and maintaining the website, vision and direction of the group.

Alysia began homeschooling in 2002.  She and her husband Jack are the proud parents of seven children, the oldest graduating in 2015.  Alysia is an R.N. and worked in long-term care and rehabilitation before staying home with her kids.  Alysia plans and organizes a number of the social and educational activities for Abundant Rain.  She helps with developing new initiatives and unique ways to build the community of homeschoolers. Because Alysia lived in Ohio for many years, she also has connections to homeschooling resources outside our area and draws on those experiences to strengthen Abundant Rain Collective.

Michael is a homeschooling dad of four active boys. He also works as an attorney in South Bend. Michael serves as the secretary and treasurer for Abundant Rain Collective, overseeing its tax, financial, and corporate affairs. He believes working fathers have an important role to play in homeschooling and tries to bring a unique perspective to the leadership of the group.

The mission of Abundant Rain Collective is to support home education through collaborative efforts and in a Christian setting. We strive to:

1. Enrich Students – creating unique and fulfilling educational opportunities
2. Support Parents – providing encouragement and promoting meaningful relationships
3. Work Together – building a community of homeschoolers where tolerance, growth, and new ideas can flourish.

We take our name from Deuteronomy 32:2: “Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.”

We offer services to homeschooling families regardless of their beliefs, but Abundant Rain was founded on, and its leadership is committed to, the following:

We believe that there is only one God eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe that humankind fell into sin, which brought evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world and that Jesus Christ is the only way to be cleansed from sin.

We believe that those who repent and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord will receive a new nature and obtain eternal life.

We believe that the Bible is the infallible, inspired Word of God and of final authority in faith and life.
